Alvaro Irbe Soto was charged with kidnapping a nine-year-old girl and assaulting her with the intent of committing a lewd and lascivious act. He entered an Alford plea to both charges pursuant to North Carolina v. Alford, 400 U.S. 25, 91 S.Ct. 160, 27 L.Ed.2d 162 (1970). On appeal, he asserts that he received ineffective assistance of counsel[Footnote 1] and that the court imposed an excessive sentence. For the following reasons, we affirm.
